The Genealogy
Guide

One of the first things
we suggest for any new parents is to learn about the clan you're taking in. Most
are gummies but they come from various clans and each clan has its own
distinct characteristics. Also we have a few different species other than Gummi
so it is important to learn about those as well as about the various clans.
So
please take the time to educate yourself. It will ensure a better relationship
between you and your future cub.
The Gummi
Clans Overall
The Gummi Clans are divided
into three subclans but there are common traits all, or almost all
Gummi clans share. The first is of course their long lifespan. Most
gummies live an average of five hundred to a thousand years yet
they age at a similar rate the humans, the main difference being that the
pains and physical changes of old age (i.e. greying hair/fur,
aching joints, etc.) do not generally appear until the gummi is well beyond the
five hundred year mark. They are generally thought 'grown up' at
around the same age as humans, eighteen to twenty-one. As a race,
gummies are very peace loving and tradition bound. The Glen and
Royal Clans create a juice called "Gummiberry" juice, from plants of the
same name. In its pure form, it is merely a sweet juice but for
centuries, these two clans have passed the recipe by mouth and in its
concentrated form, it provides a line of defense by allowing the
gummi to bounce like a ball away from danger. This reaction usually only lasts
about one to two minutes but provided them with means of escape.
While it is mostly unneeded now, some cubs from the Glen and
Royal clans may know this recipe so it is important to know its
use and effects. The juice works on other creatures as
well and it is thought that it works by triggering the
'fight-or-flight' response. Gummies gain their ability to bounce
while humans gain superhuman
strength momentarily. The effects are unknown in other species but
it is not harmful or addictive so we ask that if your new cub
expresses an interest in this ancient recipe that it be
encouraged. Most Barbic clans do not use the juice.

The Royal
Clan
These cubs are
descendents of those Great Gummies that fled across the sea to new lands
when the Human-Gummi wars broke out. Their hope of peace was fulfilled in many
communities but strife has fallen upon several others, leaving a few orphans in
need of homes. These gummies are well versed in magical knowledge as well as
mechanical knowledge. Most cubs of these descendents are highly creative and
should be encouraged to pursue their artistic gifts.
The Glen
Clan
These cubs are
descendents of those gummies that remained behind to maintain the home, while
their cousins went across the sea. They have
always longed to be at peace with
the humans but only a few have succeeded and as such the warrens and glens were
hit hardest by the wars.
Those of Gummi Glen and other warrens are known for their
vast intellectual knowledge, often being known as living in "The Center of Learning." As such, these cubs may be intellectually advanced and should be
encouraged in these areas.
The
Barbic Clan
These cubs are
descendents of a isolated clan of gummies and have inherited a distrust and
sometimes, hatred, of humans. They are very defensive and war absorbed, due
to the traitorous activity of the humans.
Their
clans went further into an isolation but most of the previous attacks on their
kind had taken their toll, leaving quite a few orphaned and without homes.
Barbic cubs are generally taller and physically stronger than any other clan but
not all of them are obsessed with being tough although their physical abilities
should be encouraged; they should not be forced upon them.
Ogres
Ogres aren't
particularly bright but they can be fiercely loyal. Even babies are quite strong
and must be watched closely. They get into trouble no matter what and are quite
a handful. Also, they have a vastly different diet from most creatures,
consisting of rather unappealing foods like pond scum and tree moss. Most
ogres are exceptional in physical strength and this trait should be encouraged
but not forced. However, there are a choice few exceptions that are born with a
small stature but an abnormal intelligence level among ogres. These traits
should not be ignored but encouraged.
